I don’t feel like you can have a garden without plants! This week’s garden element is plants. Of course, there is more to this than just planting plants. There are specific placements and reasons for why certain plants are placed in the garden.

I am no zen master, but I can do my best to give you the basic resources to get you started! I have mentioned it before, but some of us cannot have a beautiful large zen garden. Even so, I think we can try to get all the elements included in your Japanese garden.

One of the most important aspects is you do not want to completely renovate your yard! Work with what you have, it’s natural, don’t try to change it to be something it isn’t. Next, your garden is supposed to be enjoyed all year around. This is why there are both evergreen and deciduous trees. Also there are many kinds of flowers and plants without flowers. Do you see the pattern here? Basic gardening techniques are also applied, such as applying heights of each plant to have a better pleasing garden. Remember, less is more! We aren’t creating a jungle.
